The Claim Recovery Specialist will report directly to the Claims Operations Manager, and will be responsible for liaising with the outsourced recovery agents, being proactive and exercising a high degree of initiative, judgement and discretion in order to anticipate and initiate appropriate action to optimise the recovery function within the organisation.

This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday. 36 hours per week. The role is based in the IFSC.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

Work collaboratively with fellow staff, Claims Handling Offices, Recovery Agents and Defence Legal Panel by telephone and by written correspondence in pursuing recoveries.

Trace and identify the party that is to be pursued for recovery.

Pursue recoveries by investigating and evaluating legal liability and determining the case strategy to follow with the Legal Panel.

Work with other stakeholders to secure additional information and provide feedback on merits of pursuing recoveries where difficulties arise.

Manage and direct Recovery Agents interactions on recoveries on claims.

Have the ability to effectively value, manage and resolve cases .

Bring recoveries to resolution by participating with Recovery Agents in file negotiations, arbitrations and litigation if required.

In the event of failing to recover moneys on individual claims, work with Defence Legal Panel to register judgments where required.

Adhere to regulatory and governance requirements as required.

Refer to claims handling and recovery procedures as appropriate.

Properly recognise and escalate any matters that arise during recovery process.

Support project work and ad hoc duties as determined by manager.

Monthly Reporting on the effectiveness of recovery programme

Development of the recovery recording facility on our in house claims database

Qualifications/ Personal Attributes:

A minimum of 4 years insurance and or legal experience, preferably in claims handling, either in an insurance company, brokerage or legal firm

Pay strict attention to detail

Flexibility and adaptability

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Organisational skills and the ability to multitask

Capacity to be proactive and take the initiative

A team player who will be expected to meet deadlines and furthermore have the ability to work effectively showing good judgement

Strong interpersonal skills

Good MS Office skills


Remuneration will be dependent upon individual experience, for an experienced candidate a salary of €45K to €50K is budgeted.
