Redhills Adventure, established in 2014, is one of Ireland’s leading land-based activity centres offering a range of tag, target and team building style activities. We cater for children and adults and also operate mobile events. In 2021, we were voted among Ireland’s top 40 things to do for families. The centre is owner operated with a strong focus on offering memorable experiences to its customers in a safe and fun environment. The business has emerged from the Covid 19 Pandemic stronger than ever attributable largely in part to a huge demand for outdoor activities.

Due to the huge demand in outdoor activities, Redhills Adventure is seeking to hire an enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic individual to join their team. The role will report to the business owner/ managers and will encompass the following responsibilities -

 

The principal duties and responsibilities include:

To support the owner / operators in the provision of quality activity instruction sessions to young people and adults alike
Deliver a range of activity experiences/ events to our customer base to ensure a safe, inclusive, and memorable visit encouraging repeat business
Effectively manage the centre’s day to day responsibilities regarding operational standards in customer service delivery and safety protocols.
Motivate and manage a team of instructors across to ensure a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement is fostered and maintained
Manage existing operational systems and processes effectively and implement where appropriate new efficiencies and standards
Be an integral part of developing new activities, offerings, and events at the centre
Build and maintain excellent working relationships with the team and customers alike
Bring a strong personality to the role, one that leads by example with a firm but approachable presence
Carry out essential maintenance duties and assist with projects as required when not required operationally
Comply with the Health & Safety and administrative requirements of the centre
Attend staff meetings and training as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential requirements the person must meet are as follows:

A strong interest in working with people of all ages and ability
A strong interest in coaching and encouraging participation of participants
A minimum of one year full time experience of coaching/ instructing ideal
A minimum of two years customer service experience
Experience of working within and also leading a team structure
Experience of efficient administration and record keeping
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Enjoys the outdoor environment and be physically able and fit for the active nature of the role
Committed to on-going self and professional development
Welcomes change and is committed to encouraging continuous improvement and learning
Manages own workload effectively while responding to new demands
Has the capacity to integrate well with, and contribute to, an evolving business
Have fluent English
Have a good and proficient knowledge of IT systems and is computer literate
Have a full and clean Irish driving license and your own car

 

Other desired specifications:

Experience of working with children/ adults with disabilities would be an advantage
First Aid Training at Occupational Level 5 of higher
Relevant educational attainment in a related field
Annual Leave

Annual Leave will be 20 days per annum (pro rata). Entitlement to Public Holidays will be in accordance with the Working Time Act of 1997 (pro rata).

Compulsory Leave must be taken at:

Christmas (School Holidays)

This role requires availability during High Seasons May through to September inclusive

Scheduling:

Two of the five days weekly will involve Saturday and Sunday scheduling

It is envisaged the role will operate Wednesday-Sunday although this is subject to change based on unavoidable bookings on Mondays and Tuesdays so scheduled days off will change with advance notice provided.

The Interview will consist of two parts: The first part of the interview will consist of an initial Phone or Zoom Interview (You will be notified in advance). Following a successful first round interview, you will be requested to attend a practical assessment/ trial to ascertain the required skills onsite at Redhills. This may be during the week but will most likely take place at the weekend. A final round interview will take place based on the successful completion of the practical assessment/trial.

Should you be scheduled for the practical trial. Please dress appropriately for the practical session. Wear suitable attire and footwear for taking part in activities.

SELECTION PROCESS

Selection will involve short listing of applicants for interview based on the criteria for the position as outlined in this job description above.
