Pieta House was established in 2006 to help people affected by suicide. In 2018, we saw over 8000 clients who were at risk of suicide, were engaging in self-harm or had been bereaved by suicide.

We employ over 200 therapists who provide counselling services to people suffering from suicide ideation, to those who self-harm and to people who need bereavement counselling. Sadly, demand for Pieta’s services continues to grow. It is through the continued support of the Irish people that the work can continue.

We are currently recruiting for the following position:


Role & Purpose

The HR function is a vital and exciting one, supporting and enabling the culture of development and general support of Pieta House. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role offers the perfect opportunity for a proactive, driven professional to work closely with the HR Manager and management teams in a dynamic, fast paced environment. The HR Administrator will work as part of a team responsible for recruitment, garda vetting, induction, training and development, the organisational HR system, policy development, management of the annual review process and employee engagement. This is a 12 month fixed term contract with a view to permanency.

Core Responsibilities

Recruitment – manage the life cycle of the recruitment and selection process by working closely with the centre/regional managers and ensuring approval processes adhered to.

Induction – Implement, evaluate and revise as necessary the induction process to ensure the effective integration of new staff

Employee Relations – ensure consistent employment advice is provided to all managers and staff in respect of policies, terms and conditions and legislation. Manage day to day issues as required through discussion with line/regional managers and the HR Manager as necessary.

Act as liaison with payroll department on starters/leavers/payroll changes

HR System – overall responsibility for the HR system ensuring all data is accurate and is updated as required and providing management reports on a regular basis.

Annual Review Process – ensure that the annual review process runs smoothly providing training where needed.

Training & Development – assist in developing and organising suitable training for all staff within budget as identified through the annual review process.

Policy Development – review and develop the HR policies and procedures as required in line with legislation and best practice.

Employee Engagement – work collaboratively with the Director of HR, HR Manager and management team to ensure a high degree of employee engagement

Undertake ad hoc HR projects as required

Assist the Director of HR/HR Manager with any projects or challenges as they arise

Deal with all HR associated admin duties

Person Profile

CIPD qualified with at least 2 years post qualified HR experience ideally in the not for profit sector

Strong project management and co-ordination skills with an ability to work on own initiative and to deadlines

Possess the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality at all times

A professional and dynamic person who can adapt to change as required

Highly organised and proactive

A team player, yet highly self-driven and ambitious

Problem solving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels

The successful candidate will need to show reasonable flexibility in relation to hours of attendance to meet the needs of the work. Work during weekends and evenings may on occasion be required to suit the needs of this role. Full clean driving license is essential as some nationwide travel may be required.

IT Skills

Confident working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook is a must

Experience of using Salesforce CRM would be ideal.


Salary of €32,000 per annum based on a 40 hour working week

20 days annual leave
