Description of Role:
The Wellington Eye are currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse to join our team in Co.
Active NMBI registration (RGN)
Fluent English is essential
Excellent communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent clinical skills
Strong service ethic
Ophthalmic experience is an advantage though not essential.
An interest in Clinical Research would be an advantage.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Working as part of the Nursing/ Technician team to perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing on patients as part of clinical work ups for consultations at the Clinic.
Working as part of the Nursing/ Technician team to complete virtual consultations with patients to capture motivations for surgery, medical history, visual needs etc prior to their consultation with the Surgeon.
Scrubbing for laser eye surgery procedures performed in the dedicated theatre at the clinic
Management of patients on the day of surgery (consent discussion, medication management, counselling on postoperative instructions, completion of slit lamp examinations as part of discharging patients)
Assist the Surgeon in theatre (off site at Beacon Hospital) for cataract and lens procedures. Assist with the documentation of procedures, checking correct IOLs available etc.
Answering patient queries via phone call/ email
Assist with planning cataract and lens procedures by calculating IOLs to be used by the Surgeon during the procedure
The Wellington Eye Clinic is a multidisciplinary team made up of smaller teams; Administrative, Nursing/ Technician, Optometry, Consultants.
The successful candidate would join the Nursing/ Technician team and reporting to the Clinical Support/ Research Manager.
The position is a permanent position subject to a probationary period.
Full training will be provided.
Salary is negotiable and depending on experience.
Care and nursing NMBI communication skills.
