Job description

Chartered Physiotherapist wanted for a part time position in Cork for a long established and expanding nationwide multi-disciplinary company specialising in older adult healthcare.

We have an experienced team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Exercise and Rehabilitation therapists that are all committed to improving our older adults quality of life.

Applicants must have a genuine interest in the ageing adult and must have previous work experience working with older adults and have a keen interest in exercise therapy. This position would be ideal for a candidate who has decided to specialise working with older adults.

Position involves:

The position involves working with older adults predominantly in long term residential care, community hospitals, daycare centres and their own homes in multiple weekly sites.

Day to day responsibilities include carrying out individual assessments, joint multidisciplinary assessments, functional, fitness and falls risk assessments using best practice outcome measures to devise treatments plans that achieve person centred short and long term goals.

Delivering specialised group exercise therapy to older adults of all levels of physical and cognitive capabilities is an integral part of the service we provide.

Working closely with other members of the Fit For Life team to introduce new ideas and approaches to offer a more holistic service. Researching and delivering in services on older adult related topics.

Experience working with the geriatric population and evidence of continued professional development in this area is obviously a must!

Extensive in house training provided in the areas such as appropriate exercise prescription for all older adults in an individual and group setting (including those living with dementia), falls prevention and advanced people handling. Monthly in services, CPD and research opportunities available.

This position involves some travelling so all applicants must have their own transport (car) and a full driving licence or they will not be considered for interview.

We are looking for a candidate:

Who is competent and enthusiastic in instructing, prescribing, recording, analysing best practice exercise with participants of varying capacity and pathologies.

With a genuine interest and commitment to the geriatric population.

Evidence of continued professional development in the area of older adult care.

Previous work experience working with the older adults. Research is the area would be extremely beneficial.

Must be flexible and willing to be involved inall aspects of the companies on site interventions.

CORU registration

Current Membership of the ISCP

Must have recent and long term references.

Good communication and interpersonal skills essential.

Legally entitled to work in Ireland.

Their own car and a full driving licence.

Initial 9month probationary contract with a full review based on performance.
