Commis Chef will work on many different stations as assigned by Sous Chef and Head Chef and is responsible for ensuring that standards are maintained for his/her section. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Assist in the preparation and service of all food items according to GFP recipes and standards • Ensure all preparation of the designated section is complete and ready for each service • Ensure good stock and waste control is practised • Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards • Execute cooking to the expected high standard quickly and efficiently • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of designated section • Support Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering required standard of food • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude at all times and seek to improve and advance your skill set and performance • Comply with all Health and Safety regulations • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef and management. Skills and abilities required: • Punctual, organised and trustworthy • Professional appearance • Excellent communication skills • Attention to detail • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times • Ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner • Ability to solve problems and think on your feet • Willingness to take initiative and make decisions • Ability to delegate tasks effectively • Desired Latin cuisine background.
