We also specialise in postgraduate and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes for students and teaching professionals across the globe. We are currently looking for a Learning Designer with a strong record of developing innovative and engaging digital learning content to join the Digital Learning Department.

Job Purpose

The Learning Designer will work collaboratively with academic staff, subject matter experts and the digital design team to plan, design and develop high quality, student-centred digital content and learning experiences, ensuring excellence in pedagogical design. The candidate will need to have a strong working knowledge of learning technologies, learning management systems and communication tools, such as Articulate 360, Moodle and Zoom.


Content development

Work with subject matter experts and the digital design team to create engaging learning experiences and compelling course content that meets intended learning outcomes

Design and develop innovative learning activities, including multimedia learning objects such as podcasts, videos, interactive presentations, scenarios and quizzes

Review all content for copyright compliance, pedagogic soundness, adherence to guidelines, spelling and grammar

Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the learning content, reviewing and updating existing material when required


Build strong working relationships with academic staff, operating as the point of contact between the Digital Learning Department and subject matter experts 

Facilitate learning design workshops with academic staff and subject matter experts to determine optimal approaches for developing course content and to ensure that they are fully briefed on the development process 

Learning technologies and platforms

Develop an excellent working knowledge of authoring tools, learning management systems and video conferencing software such as Articulate 360, Moodle and Zoom 

Work closely with the rest of the Digital Learning Department to identify and evaluate new learning technologies

Ensure the effective use of learning technologies to maximise student learning

Work closely with the technical support team to assist in maintaining course content 

Organisation and planning

Work proactively to ensure timely completion of assigned course content, coordinating with the digital design team and alerting the Learning Design Team Lead to potential delays

Adhere to specified processes and maintain accurate and up-to-date development records

Participate actively in team and programme meetings and contribute to College-wide working groups

Engagement and training

Actively keep up-to-date with trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design, and review those that offer potential for enhancing the College’s offering

Collaborate on research projects in the area of technology-enhanced learning, and participate in conferences

Represent the College externally on groups, committees and panels where required

Contribute to the development of templates, procedures and training materials to increase the efficiency of the content development process


Perform any other duties relevant to the role 



Relevant third-level qualification, ideally related to technology in education 

At least 5 years’ experience in a technology-enhanced learning role, preferably with project management experience

Experience of working with authoring tools, learning management systems and video conferencing software such as Articulate 360, Moodle and Zoom

Excellent organisational and time-management skills

Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills

Strong ability to work independently with the capacity to undertake multiple assignments, while adhering to strict deadlines

Positive and professional attitude with excellent problem-solving skills

A genuine enthusiasm for exploring and adapting to new technologies and exploiting their potential

Willingness to travel between offices as required


Experience of using digital portfolios in an educational setting
