Heritage is recognised as a vital growth driver for many of Diageo’s brands. The Guinness Archive at Guinness Storehouse, Ireland’s No. 1 visitor attraction, plays an integral role in protecting and managing the history and heritage of the GUINNESS brand and Diageo beer brands in Ireland.

The Guinness Archive is the only corporate Archive open to the public in Ireland and is located in Guinness Storehouse the Home of Guinness, authenticating the visitor experience, and acts as the public face for all historical enquiries from the Guinness Storehouse audience.

The Archive is also an integral support to the promotion of the Guinness brand globally, in particular marketing teams, used to:

> Develop new exhibits within Guinness Storehouse, Home of GUINNESS

> Tell brand stories and support brand messages

> Provide in-house training and knowledge

> Support public relations

> Inspire new product development and packaging design

> Protect brand trademarks and identities

Purpose of Role

This is a FTC cataloguing position within the Archive team with responsibility for collection management. The Archivist will ensure the effective preservation, cataloguing, digitisation and provision of access to the Company hard copy archive collection in order to ensure full exploitation of Archive assets and information to all users of the Archive.

The Archivist will anticipate business needs by identifying and prioritising cataloguing projects; ensure long term preservation by cataloguing materials to international standards via our database and using professional packaging and storage standards; increase access by making our materials available digitally and on-line; use the knowledge obtained from the collection to deliver world class expertise to all users, in particular Guinness Storehouse, in an efficient and authoritative manner.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities

As collection manager, the Archivist is responsible for opening up access to the archive collection by identifying and delivering cataloguing projects to international archival best practice standards to provide access to currently uncatalogued and inaccessible materials. Delivery of the ongoing archive digitisation programme, prioritising access to archival materials based on brand requirements Management of third party digitisation suppliers and budget Appraisal of uncatalogued material, management of storage areas, oversight of temporary cataloguing staff Responsibility for delivery of archive & heritage support to the GSH business and acting as key point of contact for all archive requests

Qualifications required

MA in Archives and Records Management with 5 years plus professional experience, ideally within a corporate archive environment

Member of the Archives and Records Association
