The School of Media is seeking to appoint a 9 hour pro rata Assistant Lecturer in Advanced film production on a temporary whole time basis. The ideal candidate will have substantial relevant industry/professional experience with a track record in the scriptwriting and film production industry. Professional experience at producer level with a track record of successful projects S/he will be capable of fulfilling an academic leadership role within their area, significantly contribute to the teaching and development of animation within the school. S/he will cultivate relationships within the film industry to develop and grow student numbers and identify opportunities Person Specification The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities as outlined below: Knowledge • An appropriate first or second class honours degree in film production from a recognised degree awarding authority or equivalent (Essential); • A Master’s degree in film production or a related discipline from a recognised degree awarding authority or an approved equivalent qualification [Note: Master’s Degrees must have been obtained by thesis/examination] Experience • Three years’ appropriate experience subsequent to obtaining an honours primary degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Essential); • Demonstratable expertise in appropriate Film production applications and equipment; (desirable) • Expert knowledge of Financial and legal aspects of television and film production; (desirable) • Track record in producing for Film at a senior level; (desirable) • Experience of content creation for diverse platforms; (desirable) • Experience of developing education programmes for industry in response to national initiatives (e.g. springboard) (desirable) • An ability to develop effective relationships with industry partners and employer networks; Ability and willingness to contribute to the administrative work of the School and Institute; (desirable) Skills, talents & abilities • Excellent communication skills both oral and written and be able to communicate effectively with students which is particularly important. • Knowledge and experience of working with industry standard technology, machinery and software. • Experience of e-learning education management systems such as Webcourses or Blackboard would be an advantage. • Be flexible and have ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team, • Be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to network with colleagues and other stakeholders.
