Irish Girl Guides is recruiting a Finance Support Officer. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting local Units, the Regional teams, National Committees and the National Finance Committee to ensure ongoing compliance.
The Irish Girl Guides’ mission is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. This is achieved by the volunteer leaders running a non-formal educational programme with 500 plus units across all counties in the Republic of Ireland. The organisation has charitable status and works to ensure it is compliant with all relevant legislation and codes of good practice. The organisation is led by a board of volunteers and the Finance Support Officer will work closely with staff and volunteers to ensure all regulatory and statutory obligations are met.
Key objectives of the role
Support local Units to compile and submit their annual accounts and audit same.
Work with the Accounts Administrator, and the Finance Committee to fulfill ongoing accounting requirements and achieve compliance.
The position advertised will be a one-year contract with a probationary period of 6 months. The current salary is €28,000 - €30,000 per annum. Contract will be for 37 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work may be required, for which time off is given in lieu. Annual leave is 25 days. This job is based in IGG National Office which is currently in Donnybrook, Dublin 4 and will move to Tallaght, Dublin 24 within 12 months.
Excellent IT experience and proficiency – MS Office, especially Excel
Excellent experience and knowledge of computerised accounting (Sage line 50 or similar accounts package)
Proficient administration and organisational skills
Accounting Technician / CPA qualified [Desirable]
Good oral, written and presentational communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work with volunteers and professional staff
Good time management skills and ability to manage a complex workload

Governance and Compliance
Support IGG in line with company/charity compliance and regulatory standards
Support IGG in becoming SORP compliant
Ensuring IGG is compliant with current tax regulations through various procedures
Operational support – Accounts
Manage and support National Committees with their financial records
Support volunteers at regional and local level with the completion of accounts
Assist the Finance Committee with the collecting and checking of IGG accounts (national, committee, regional and local) for collation and audit
Ensure the Financial Manual is kept up-to-date
Provide financial information for the IGG website to ensure it is current and correct
Operational support – Budget and Grants
Assist with the preparation of budgets
Assist with tendering and procurement procedures, if required
Assist with the financial element of completion of government grant application and report forms in conjunction with the CEO and IGG National Treasurer
Assist with maintenance of fundraising related records
Support accounting requirements of any IGG events as directed e.g. Training events for volunteers
Ensure resource and training material for volunteers is updated as required
Other ad hoc duties as requested by CEO or Accounts Administrator
