Irish Memory Orchestra
The Irish Memory Orchestra is now seeking a confident Outreach Development Officer to join their organisation on a part time, freelance basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic candidate to develop the orchestra's Outreach and Education programme – the successful candidate will be responsible for devising new outreach and education activities in collaboration with IMO’s artistic leaders. Fundraising will be a key part of this role including researching and writing grant applications, and seeking corporate support.
An important purpose of this role in 2021 is to manage the IMO Youth Orchestra & Choir programme, alongside the Apprentice Liaison Officer. Auditions and mentoring will run online through the year. The final month of the project will be dedicated to the Vision Symphony performance in Galway, with four days of rehearsal beforehand. The Outreach Development Officer will be required on site in Galway for these five days. The dates of this live aspect are subject to change with respect to potential Covid-19 restrictions.
This role requires a flexible, dynamic professional with excellent organisation and event management skills and a successful track record in fundraising, who is capable of working on their own initiative to develop and drive projects from beginning to end.
Development of new outreach and education projects, working with the Artistic Team, including fundraising, event bookings and online projects
Setting and meeting realistic fundraising targets for the above projects
Management of the existing IMO Youth Orchestra & Choir project, including meeting additional fundraising requirements
Researching and identifying grant funding opportunities, writing applications and managing required follow-up
Sourcing and managing event staff and volunteers in consultation with the Artistic Director and Apprentice Liaison Officer
Managing aspects of Health and Safety and the Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults, including Garda Vetting.
Providing monthly progress updates to internal stakeholders
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running of IMO outreach and education projects including:
Liaising with musicians on scheduling, travel, accommodation, fees, and invoicing
Liaising with the Communications Manager on PR and Marketing
Liaising with the Apprentice Liaison Officer on apprentice schemes like the Youth Orchestra
Liaising with concert and rehearsal venues and accommodation providers
Liaising with accountants regarding Arts Council reporting requirements
Arts management graduate or equivalent transferable experience
Considerable experience working in Arts Management and/or Administration roles, especially in the areas of Outreach and Education, Arts and Disability
Proven success in fundraising for the arts
Event coordination experience
Confidence and ability to work on own initiative
Efficient time management, organisation, and fore-planing skills
Experience working to targets and excellent budgeting management skills
Strong stakeholder engagement, networking, influencing and negotiation skills
Knowledge of the Irish music scene, particularly Classical and Traditional music / Arts and Disability / Youth Outreach
Experience working with children and vulnerable adults is preferred
An appreciation and understanding for the mission of the Irish Memory Orchestra
The role requires 5 days on site in Galway during the IMO Youth Orchestra & Choir performance week in Galway. Provisionally this is around Halloween 2021, although this may move to Easter 2022 in the event of Covid restrictions.
