Lewmar, Trend Marine and Taylor Made. Specialising in the design, manufacture and distribution of winches, hardware, hatches, portlights, glass & glazing, steering systems, thrusters, anchoring and windlass products, bathing platforms, passerelles, beds and roof systems, alongside other marine hardware.

Taylor Made IRL provides highly engineered, innovatively designed solutions for the global marine industry and off-road vehicle markets, producing tempered glass products, windshields, windows, and doors for a myriad of markets.


Description of Role:

Taylor Made IRL are currently recruiting for a PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER to join our New Product Development (NPD) team in Co. Tipperary. This is a full-time role and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work on a diverse range of interesting projects with long-term opportunities for career development. Ideally the applicant will have existing working experience in product & process design and will be looking to further their career and enhance their experience.


Key elements of the role:


The successful candidate will be working as lead Product design Engineer for NPD, reporting to Engineering Manager.
Responsible for the R&D, design, and coordination of NPD introduction
Prepare and issue reports, inclusive of budget costing and feasibility.
Utilise software such as 3D (SolidWorks) and 2D (AutoCad) to assist in the design, build, test and commissioning of various products and processes.
Generate respective product models and working drawings of the concepts/designs in-line with varying international standards, all within the constraints of the manufacturing process.
Assist in the execution and management of various engineering projects and activities from concept through to completion.
Liaise with various in-house departments as well as external customers, designers, contractors & installers to assist in product & process development


Additional responsibilities

Preparation of detailed production drawings and their associated material lists.
Liaise with personnel within and outside the design department in ensuring that designs produced are current, incorporate all updated solutions and conform to the standards required.
Liaise with various sub suppliers/sub-contractors to ensure component fabrication and components quality is in accordance with the expectations and requirements of TaylorMade.
Visit customers from time to time as requested by management to improve the knowledge and understanding of TaylorMade product and services. In addition to supervise the installation and commissioning of products and services provided by TaylorMade
To collaborate, actively participate and provide design expertise to the Equipment Engineering department in the design, manufacture, documentation, and continuous improvement of equipment and tooling for the production glass products

Excellent attention to detail, documentation and data analysis skills are required.
Have the confidence to provide ideas and solutions and promote the level of technical excellence
Good instincts and sound judgment for mechanical and process design. Execute problem solving techniques related to design/technical issues
Good communication skills combined with an imaginative and creative approach to problem solving.
A proven team player who’s organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
The ability to work independently and present/communicate findings.
The ability to take ownership of projects and bring to successful conclusions. Hands on approach.
Show an interest in increasing their knowledge base through continuous self-improvement



A third level qualification in product design or relevant engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years’ work experience required in a Product Design.
Proficient using Solidworks and AutoCAD software essential.
Experience in any of the following areas will be considered favourably Microsoft Access and Adobe Illustrator an advantage.
