Abcon Industrial Products Ltd currently have a position for an Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer. The Apprenticeship Programme involves acquiring the knowledge, skills, and competence to carry out the core tasks & responsibilities within Abcon to support the business needs whilst developing skills to prepare for future career opportunities. This three-year programme leads to a Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing. You will earn a salary while you learn, get a formal contract of employment, and gain a recognised qualification. 70% of the time is spent on the job and 30% spent in college

What the programme looks like:
• 36 month structured programme
• Based in a factory environment learning about different areas of the operation
• Experience of working within fast paced sites and environments
• A framework of professional training modules
• Regular performance feedback and personal development planning
• Apprentice rates will apply

Key tasks/responsibilities will include:
• Facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimise existing processes, implement new processes and to ensure that production goals are met
• Monitors performance of equipment, machines and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues, all within a highly regulated and complex manufacturing environment
• Analyses and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories and initiates technical activities leading to new or improved products or process to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company
• Applies project management methodologies and Kaizen improvement philosophy to manage production/product design and process and systems improvement respectively

Entry requirements:
• You must obtain a pass in O6 or higher in 5 leaving certificate subjects, 2 of which must include mathematics and a language (English or Irish) 250 CAO points
• In the case of a mature student (over 23 years) an industry interview is required
