Ballyboden St. Enda’s GAA Club

Ballyboden St. Enda’s GAA Club located in Knocklyon, South Dublin is one of the largest GAA Clubs in the country catering for over 170 teams in Football, Hurling, Ladies Football, and Camogie.

The Position

Following the retirement of the Club’s General Manager, the Club is seeking to appoint a General Manager on a fixed-term contract for three-years on a 25 hours per week basis. The role is responsible to the Club Executive but will report to the Club Chairman and be responsible for the efficient day to day running of the Club, the development and implementation of all operating plans, management of staff, and provision of input to the Executive for the development of strategic plans.

There is a requirement for flexibility as the role holder will need to be in attendance at the Club at different times during the day, evenings, and weekends, depending on demand.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and experience

10+ years of effectively dealing with a variety of stakeholders in an organizational capacity plus doing so in a volunteer environment would be a distinct advantage
Demonstrable experience in managing complex projects and resource allocation
Basic book-keeping and experience of using an accounting package such as Sage is desirable
IT Skills and experience in using applications to support storage and sharing of documentation, electronic payments, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning and organizing skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and people management skills
Experience of working within and adhering to strong Governance and compliance processes and procedures
Clearly demonstrated experience of vendor management
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
A full clean driving license and the use of a car would be an advantage


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Basic book-keeping including invoice entry, bar accounts, VAT, and Payroll
Ensure compliance with regulatory, insurance, and governance requirements
Management of the Bar Manager and Director of Coaching who report directly to this role
Manage planning and grant applications alongside the Club Facilities Development Executive
General office management duties
Manage all rental agreements and relationships with tenants
Lead the management of all major projects initiated by the Club
Management of bank accounts, receipts, lodgements, and payments
Manage tender processes and appointment of contractors and providers
Communication with membership, sponsors, county boards and other stakeholders
Management of the membership database and membership subscriptions along with club and section Registrars
Pitch allocations and equipment requisitions
Documentation, recording and maintenance of Club policies and guidelines
Match ticket allocations as guided by the Club Executive
Oversee/support the management of Club events as required
Along with the Club Communications’ Executive ensure timely and accurate content on the Club website and Club social media
Co-ordinate activities across Club committees
Manage access to and security of Club properties
Maintain Club property to a high specification working in tandem with the Club Facilities’ Maintenance Executive.
Ensure the operation of the Club within an agreed budget
In conjunction with Club and section Secretaries, manage all communication with County Boards


A background in, and understanding of, the ethos of the GAA and its clubs will be an advantage.

Salary will be commensurate with the role, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.
