The Senior Quantity Surveyor will have responsibility for a large project or a number of smaller projects. They will work closely with the project team to ensure the successful delivery of the project. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior QS will assist in the monthly reporting and day to day commercial management of the project.
The post holder will be responsible for reviewing and costing updated designs along with construction teams and design teams to ensure the most economical design is chosen. The post holder will be responsible to notify any changes between the original design and the revised design including the reasons for same. The post holder shall advise the team of the cost implication to the project so that these can be included in the updated budget and whether there is possibly recovery from the Client or the Designers.
The post holder shall also procure and manage subcontract packages and provide support in relation to claims identification, valuations and the management of subcontractors/suppliers.
The successful candidate will be based initially on the M7 Upgrade project.
The main duties include:
a) Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts;
b) The documentation and valuation of any additional works or variations to the Contract;
c) Reporting on the commercial and financial aspects of the project;
d) Procurement of subcontract packages;
e) Interim payments and settlement of subcontractor final accounts;
f) Liaise with project team to ensure accurate costing system is set-up and maintained;
g) Advise project team on contractual matters
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree level qualification in Construction Economics or Quantity Surveying
5 - 10 years experience in a Quantity Surveying role
experience with a main contractor is desirable
civil engineering experience is preferred however building experience is also relevant
